"Please Sir May I Have Some More?"

For my independant novel study, I am reading Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, one of his most famous novels. The protagonist of the story is, no suprise here, Oliver Twist himself. He is a young orphan child living in 1830's England. Although the novel starts off when Oliver is a baby, the main action of the novel takes place when he about 9 years old. Its a story of his life, troubles and morals, and about the era when the world was accustomed to poverty and crime. Oliver is a very small boy for his age which is mostlikely caused by malnutrition in his early childhood, he is quite frail, slim and tiny. Oliver is also very emotional, crying when he knows something is about to change. Perhaps he is simply used to unfortunately having things change for the worst in his sad life. One of the many unfortunate things to happen to Oliver would be being sold to Mr. Sowerberry as an apprentice. There he meets Noah, another one of Sowerberry's apprentices, but Noah is not very fond of Oliver, as jealousy emmits from his speech. There is a quarrel between the two as Noah comments on Oliver's lack of a mother, and although Oliver simply stands up for himself, he is punished by Mrs. Sowerberry. This part in the novel is showing how Oliver's life is filled with punishment and torment, and I think that is why he is so pure and good in nature. Oliver is a very innocent soul and is shocked when he is exposed to thievery  and people being cruel to one another. He acts with more age then he has, showing his maturity.

So far the book is very addicting. Oliver's pain and suffering flow out of the pages and I just can't put the book down.

beaver fever.

No girl in the world can deny that Justin Bieber would not be a great Valentine.

If I could send a valentine,
or maybe two or three,
I would sent it to none but,
that lovely Justin B.

Yes he's not that tall,
Its possible he's a beaver,
He may sing like a girl,
But he has given me the fever,

Some say he's a hero,
Up there with Gretsky and Fox,
I think he is just a heartthrob,
Who will really rock your socks,

Funny, and pretty dang adorable,
He can make every girl sway,
And if I had a chance to send a message,
This is what I'd say,

It may be too corney,
Its a little bit lame,
But like it or not,
I cant be tamed

"Boy, Never say never,
Baby Baby Baby OH,
I just need somebody to love,
I will never let you go,
Cause when you smile, I smile,

Be my Valentine!"

With My Head In The Clouds.

A book is like cake to me, if it is good, I will most certainly devour it. I loved reading many books when I was younger, and it seems as if my favourites were all branches of Dr. Seuss. These days I tend to read from many different authors, but there has always been this main theme throughout all the books I have enjoyed. Themes of wild imagination and endless possiblities. I suppose I like the thought of always keeping an open mindset, the idea that anything is possible.

I can remember pleading my parents to read them over and over again, "The Cat In the Hat", "Green Eggs and Ham", "The Fox in Socks", but there was one book that I couldnt stop reading, "The First of Octember!". Just thinking of it now, a rush of memories come flooding in. A story of a special day in the year where everything and anything that could be imagined, would come true. I cherished this book cause it gave me the inspiration to go forth and conquer anything, the belief that nothing is ever impossible. Not to mention the pictures are really pretty to look at!

One of my favourite books of all time would be "Alone On a Wide Wide Sea" by Michael Morpurgo. An absolutely heart wrenching tale of a terminal old man retelling his story of being seperated from his family during WWI, sent to Australia, and his quest to find his long lost sister. Throughout the book he never gives up hope and, sadly, even when his life does come to an end, his daughter continues on in his name. This book also emits a sort of fairytale story that dreams do come true. I like that.

These two books really give me that boost to simply dream big. Perhaps it shows many that I am a bit of a star-gazer, someone without their feet firmly on the ground, but thats okay with me. I would prefer to always have something to think about, then nothing at all. People who never dream, never seem to really live. What I am trying to say, is take that leap, experiment and dream often, cause you never know.
